Manager Frank Lampard has Officially been Sacked by the Club

Manager Frank Lampard has officially been sacked by the club.

It’s a time of change at Chelsea as the club have taken the decision to move on from Frank Lampard, who leaves the Blues today.

According to the report, Frank Lampard angered Chelsea’s board by repeatedly demanding Declan Rice transfer, and Chelsea’s board grew tired with Frank Lampard’s insistence on signing former academy product Delcan Rice from West Ham United.

Lampard has been sacked as Chelsea boss today after the club’s recent collapse, which has left the Blues ninth in the Premier League table.

The Blues were operating under a transfer ban when Frank was appointed in 2019 and he guided the club to fourth in his first season at the club, which was considered an impressive performance given the circumstances.

Lampard made up for the lack of investment last summer as Chelsea spent around £225m on the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell.

However, Lampard was far from content and below expectations with the club’s outlay and he repeatedly demanded the signing of Rice from rivals West Ham.

Rice was released from Chelsea’s academy at the age of 15 but seems the Blues must have regretted their decision as he’s gone on to establish himself as a full England international.

Meanwhile, West Ham are realistic about their prospects of keeping Rice in the long-term but they wanted around £80m for the midfielder last summer, which Lampard felt was good value for money and he kept on pressing.

But the tension between Lampard and those above him grew further as the Chelsea’ legend requested the signing of Rice again before the January transfer window opened.

Nevertheless, Lampard has officially been sacked by the club and that leaves so many questions – how will Chelsea act in the transfer window? Will Thomas Tuchel take over? What’s next for Lampard? Have the aims adjusted for the season now?

Speaking on the club’s official website on the sack, Abramovic said;

“This was a very difficult decision for the Club, not least because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him’.

“He is a man of great integrity and has the highest of work ethics. However, under current circumstances we believe it is best to change managers.

“On behalf of everyone at the Club, the Board and personally, I would like to thank Frank for his work as Head Coach and wish him every success in the future. He is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge.”

Nevertheless, Lampard has officially been sacked by the club and that leaves so many questions – how will Chelsea act in the transfer window? Will Thomas Tuchel take over? What’s next for Lampard? Have the aims adjusted for the season now?

Marcus Rashford Awarded MBE for Services to Vulnerable Children

Marcus Rashford Awarded MBE for Services to Vulnerable Children

Marcus Rashford has been recognized and awarded MBE for his efforts to secure free meals for vulnerable children in UK during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 22 year old Manchester United forward put in operation a campaign which compelled the government to change policy on its free school meals during the lockdown.

The England forward received the Professional Footballers’ Association merit Award for his efforts. Rashford helping to ensures that children in need did not go hungry in the summer break.

Rashford featured in 2020 Queen’s Birthday honour list for his phenomenal achievement and as well received a round of applause from England’s player and staff. Southgate said: “for somebody of his age to be able to make the difference he has is phenomenal achievement”.

Rashford said in a statement: “I’m incredibly honoured and humbled. As a young black man from Wythenshawe, never did I think I would be accepting an MBE, never mind an MBE at the age of 22. This is a very special moment for myself and my family, but particularly my mum who is the real deserving recipient of the honour.

“The fight to protect our most vulnerable children is far from over. I would be doing my community, and the families I have met and spoken with, an injustice if I didn’t use this opportunity to respectfully urge the Prime Minister, who recommended me for this honour, to support our children during the October half term with an extension of the voucher scheme, as the furlough scheme comes to an end and we face increased unemployment. Another sticking plaster, but one that will give the parents of millions of children in the UK just one less thing to worry about.

“Let’s stand together in saying that no children in the UK should be going to bed hungry. As I have said many times before, no matter your feeling or opinion, not having access to food is NEVER the child’s fault.”

Manchester United staff said they were “delighted” to see his work off the pitch had been recognised.

Manchester United club statement read in part: “Everyone at Manchester United is hugely proud of Marcus for the work he has been doing to tackle food poverty among vulnerable children,”

English lower leagues face £200m loss from empty stadiums

English lower leagues face £200m loss from empty stadiums

Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s announcement on Tuesday that the COVID-19 prevention measures could stay in place for six months is a devastating blow to sporting organisations, many of whom rely heavily on match-day revenue for survival, and there have been calls from governing bodies for emergency funding. The English Football League (EFL) and Football Association (FA) warned on Wednesday that the delay in bringing back crowds for up to six months will have a devastating impact on the game’s finances. A plan to bring fans back into English sports venues on a socially distanced basis from October 1 has been scrapped because of fears over rising infection numbers.

“EFL Clubs lost £50m ($63.7) last season as a result of playing matches behind closed doors or curtailing the season and stand to lose a further £200m in 2020/21 should we be required to play the whole season without supporters in grounds,” said EFL chairman Rick Parry. “As a matter of urgency we now need to understand what the government’s roadmap is for getting supporters back into stadiums as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.” The FA said financial help from government was vital to help clubs survive. “Following the successful return of supporters to seven fixtures on Saturday, the EFL is disappointed at Tuesday’s decision to suspend plans for the return of fans to matches,” added Parry.
