The chairman of the Abuja chapter of the Newspaper Distributors Association of Nigeria, Benjamin Obute, narrated the incident to Daily Trust thus: “What happened was that, at the Federal Secretariat where our vendors sell their papers, you know that place is the heart of Abuja, especially the rep members and senators, that is their route, and traffic lights used to stop them for about two minutes.

“So, while they were hailing them, they used to pack some money and give them. It has been the tradition for years now. Gbajabiamila knows this late Ifeanyi Chukwu one on one.

“While he (the speaker) was waiting for the traffic light to turn green, he handed over N9,000 to his aide in the front seat and handed over the money to them before one of the security details shot him (Chukwu) in the head and shot into the air.

A doctor at the hospital said: “A vendor was shot in the head by a security operative this afternoon. He died after all resuscitative measures at the National Hospital failed.”

Ghana’s Former President Rawlings Dies at 73

Sadness swept over Ghana on Thursday as the former President Jerry Rawlings departed the sinful world at age 73.

The statement released by Ghana’s president, Nana Akufo-Addo, has it that Rawlings died on Thursday morning at a hospital in Accra after brief illness. He said “a great tree is fallen and Ghana is poorer for the loss.”

To set the record straight, Jerry Rawlings seized power twice in military coups but brings democratic rule to the West African country and for this reason, many seen him as a hero.

Rawlings founded National Democratic Congress (NDC), he served two terms as a civilian head of state – from January 1993 to January 2001.

Tributes rolled in as the former President Rawlings died at 73. Prosper Bani, a minister in NDC administration between 2012 and 2017 said: “He had been a very instrumental in raising the voice of the voiceless, championing efforts to recharter the economy and politics in Ghana, and for that matter, we can concretely also remember him as the leader who moved Ghana from a series of coup d’états and dictatorial services of previous regimes into one of democratic rule”.

Vladimir Antwi-Danso, the Dean of Academic Affairs at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College said: “The biggest legacy I will grant him is his readiness to accept democracy in the Post-Cold War era where several monolithic governments didn’t want to hand over, but what he did was place himself as part of the game and came to power again in 1992 under a constitutional rule, and therefore ushered in what we now have now, as our pride.”

Rawlings who started as a populist inspired by policies and principles of the defunct Soviet Union later turned to free market to boost the Ghana’s economy. He liberalized, diversified the economy and encouraged adequate investments in gold and oil sector.

Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, said: “The entire African continent will sorely miss the sterling qualities of the great leader.

“The passion, discipline and moral strength that the former Ghanaian leader employed to reposition his country over many years continue to reverberate across the continent and beyond.”

The African Union Commission Chair, Moussa Faki said on twitter: “African has lost a stalwart of pan-africanism and a charismatic continental statesman.”

Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo-Addo and the opposition leader John Mahama both announced a suspension of all campaigns across the country even as the presidential election slated for December 7.

The nation just entered a week of national mourning as a sign of respect for the departed hero.

Nigerian Politicians- Who is deceiving who?

Who is deceiving who?

Naija na cruise” I’ve heard my mates say it over and over again. At first it was Education is a scam, school na scam, now the country itself with the leaders we voted in, Democracy!

After the Lekki Massacre, the report was there was no death, after that 2 people were proclaimed dead, such inconsistency, Sanwo-Olu has been a bad boy, and this is after we watched a live stream of the event, heard the shootings. The massacre is a nightmare that many haven’t woken up from, a gory sight.

Who is deceiving who?

Hours after places had been looted, following the night of the Lekki massacre, our honorable president, Muhammad Buhari, decided to address the country, this is after 13 days after the protest, way after the protest had been hijacked and many lived had been lost, footage here and there of hoodlums killing and burning police officers, in retaliation to what the Police officers had done to them.

SARS ARE MURDERERS AND ANYBODY THAT SUPPORTS THEM ARE ACCOMPLICES

I’ve heard people say, better be under slavery than be in a country like Nigeria. Isn’t that valid tho? We have a president that isn’t active, live broadcast y’all call it, but that thing was recorded. Blood has been shed and blood cries, but of course our leaders are silent because they think they are unaffected.

Our president couldn’t even address the killings, politicians and godfathers turned it to a game of hide-and-go-seek. Who gave the order? They gingerly commanded that people be killed, now all of a sudden, they had amnesia forgetting who gave the command, they started the game of “burning, never have I ever”.

Tinubu calls himself the Asiwaju of Lagos, Fashola just had to join this charade, i shake my head, respect for that man has gone downhill, discovering a camera, after severe cleanups had been done?

Bodies have been found floating on the lagoon, close to the shanty, everybody wan jand, Togo is not a bad fit, I laugh as many people have used mouth to cross the Atlantic, our president is saying unrealistic goals, 10 years plan, Sir, you won’t even be in office till then.

Nigeria my country, I weep.

Nigeria my country, who is deceiving who?

Now the army claims to have gotten the order from Lagos state government, after vehemently denying that they were on the site of the shootout. You think Nigerians are gullible, but there is proof.

Smile now, and be happy, your house is on fire O politicians and god fathers of the nation. Its only a while, before your cloth starts burning and you get affected, smile now, when you have the opportunity.

Nigeria will only get better with the hardwork of the youths

Adegboruwa Faults Fashola Discovery of Camera at Lekki Toll Gate

Ebun Adegboruwa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a member of the judicial panel set by Lagos State Government to investigate acts of brutality, extortion and harassment by Nigerian Police has faulted Babatunde Raji Fashola, Minister of works and housing for his discovery of a camera at Lekki Toll Gate.

Fashola has reportedly discovered a camera at Lekki Toll Gate – at the scene where security agents were reportedly opened fire on #EndSARS peaceful protesters.

Adegboruwa (SAN) said:
“It was reported that in the course of the visit, the former governor of Lagos State and the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN, discovered a hidden camera, which he took,”

“This is a clear case of illegally tampering with exhibits that may become useful to the Panel in the course of its assignment.”

Fashola paid a condolence visit along with other ministers and Governors from South-west states to the Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the destruction and looting of private and public properties by rioters in the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu led them to the Lekki Toll gate Plaza where it was reported that security agents in Army uniform opened fire on #EndSARS protesters. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has denied opening fire on any protesters.

Fashola was said to have discovered a camera on Sunday (after almost a week of the incidence) while on tour of the Lekki Toll Gate where the #EndSARS protesters gathered for 13 days before they were reportedly dispersed by security agents.

Adegboruwa further said: “Since the panel has been vested with jurisdiction over the Lekki toll plaza, I verily believe that it is illegal for anyone else to conduct any visit to the said Lekki toll plaza in the absence of and without the authority and consent of the panel,”

“I appeal to the Governor of Lagos State to allow the panel the full autonomy and independence that was promised at the time of inauguration. It is contempt of the panel for anyone to usurp the powers of the panel in the way that has been reported.”
