NBC fined Nigeria Info 99.3 N5 million over an interview with Obadiah Mailafia

Published

on

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has fined Nigeria Info 99.3 N5 million over an interview with Obadiah Mailafia, former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

On Monday, Mailafia alleged that a northern governor is one of the leaders of Boko Haram.

The Department of State Services (DSS) invited the former CBN deputy governor over the allegation and grilled him for hours before letting him go, some sources say this is because of his wife’s persistence in calling them out, and prayers by Christians.

On Thursday, the commissioner accused the station of providing its platform for Obadiah to “promote unverifiable and inciting views that could encourage or incite to crime and lead to public disorder”.

It said the former CBN deputy governor’s claims were devoid of facts and in contravention of seven provisions of the recently amended broadcasting code.

“No broadcast shall encourage or incite to crime, lead to public disorder or hate, be repugnant to public feelings or contain offensive reference to any person or organization, alive or dead or generally be disrespectful to human dignity,” the statement read.

“Broadcasting shall promote human dignity, therefore, hate speech is prohibited.

“Consequent on these provisions and in line with the amendment of the 6thedition of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, Nigeria Info 99.3FM Lagos, has been fined the sum of N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira), only.

“This is expected to serve as a deterrent to all other broadcast stations in Nigeria who are quick to provide [their] platform for subversive rhetoric and the expositions of spurious and unverifiable claims, to desist from such.

“The commission wishes to put it on record that it will not hesitate to suspend the Broadcast Licence of broadcast stations that continue to breach the Code.

“Stations are, by this statement, admonished to desist forthwith, from airing unwholesome content, or be ready to face appropriate sanctions.”

This begs the question, are they indeed hiding something? This is not the first time unverified news is being shared, but why is there such a huge deal out of this one? Someone might say Nigeria is getting better, but this does not exclude the fact that Nigerian Politicians are a bunch of corrupt people who will do anything to keep their dirty little secret from the public.

Moreover, this is not the first time news like this has circulated about politicians financing Boko-Haram, yet nothing has been done about it, Nigeria really has to do better in that regard, instead of allowing them shut up our voices, let’s take a united front, United we stand! You cannot break a broom bound in a bunch!

Stand for the truth! Expose their lies!

A man that loves you would never hit you

Published

“Ladies, don’t be deceived, a guy that loves you will never raise his hand on you”.

Stories have been circulating the internet on Lil frosh that beat his girlfriend until her face was disfigured and Chief Femi Fani Kayode, whose wife Precious has finally left him because she couldn’t take any more of the abuse he has violently dished out to her for a long time coming.

FFK came out recently, saying he caught his wife in bed with a married man seven years ago. If this is true, does it justify his hitting his wife? Mother of his kids?

Is domestic violence really justifiable on any grounds? No matter the excuse, ladies, sisters, don’t for any reason encourage and continue a relationship where you’re being battered.

It begins with a slap and an apology, until the abuse is full blown and no apology.

One thing I’ve notices is these guys that abuse ladies make sure to reduce her self esteem to zero, making her believe she can’t have a life without him, even if you’ve made a few mistake sis, you can still pick up your life. Please don’t stay with that guy because of the little benefits you receive, there’s more to you than that and you’re way bigger than that.

Seek for help, you’d be surprised at how much people would turn up and come through for you. Just don’t stay with a man that hits you.

A man that his you will respect you or love you the way that you deserve,  don’t be deceived by the gifts or little apology he renders after every ugly ministration. If he loves you he would cherish you and want to keep you. Hitting a lady is just not it.

Domestic violence comes from a place of Low self-esteem, jealousy, bitterness and possessiveness which are all bad traits.

You can do better and you can be better.
